JURY SERVICE

 

You have been summoned for jury service for the next term of court. Terms of court last for approximately three months. However, this does not mean that you will have to physically report to the courthouse each day of the term. When you receive your jury summons, you will attend juror orientation and given information about when you will need to attend. Upon completing orientation for this term, it is your responsibility to:

 

*Call the jury information hotline daily after 5:00 PM and before 8:00 AM the day before your scheduled service. The hotline number is (276) 346-7764.

 

*Unless instructed otherwise, you shall report for service at the Lee County Circuit Court, 33640 Main Street Jonesville, VA at 9:00 AM.

 

*Cell phones and other electronic devices are NOT allowed in the Courthouse. Please leave these devices either in your vehicle or with the Clerk’s office.

 

*Proper attire is required. You will not be permitted to wear tank tops, muscle shirts, flip-flops, shower shoes, shorts, pajamas, torn or tattered jeans or soiled field clothing.

 

*Request for excuses from jury service must be submitted in writing no later than five days prior to jury orientation.

 

*You will be compensated $50.00 for each day that you report for jury service. You will receive said compensation approximately 2 weeks after the end of the term.
